Join us for our annual transfer admitted student event where the UC Berkeley community welcomes newly admitted transfer students and families.
Golden Bear Welcome will feature a morning welcome program, followed by opportunities to connect with academic departments, explore campus resources, and participate in guided campus tours. Additional event and registration details will be available closer to the event date.

Highlights from Golden Bear Welcome 2025
1. Welcome Session

Newly admitted students and their families attended an early morning welcome featuring remarks from Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Admissions, Olufemi Ogundele, along with other UC Berkeley campus leaders. Doors opened at 8:00 a.m., and the official program began at 9:00 a.m.
2. College Sessions

Connecting with staff and resources in the college to which students were admitted was a key part of Golden Bear Welcome. Each college hosted sessions to introduce students to academic programs, advising, and support resources, including:

3. Information Zones

Information Zones showcased academic departments, research opportunities, student organizations, and campus resources. Attendees explored the campuswide resource fair to learn more about opportunities available to Berkeley students. Guidebook was used to locate Information Zones across campus.
4. Campus Tours

Student campus ambassadors led one-hour walking tours of campus, sharing insights into Berkeley traditions, student life, and history. Tours departed from the Tour Tent on the north side of South Hall near Doe Library and the Campanile. Tours ran continuously from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., then on the half-hour, with the final tour departing at 3:30 p.m.
5. Blue Carpet Events (between Dwinelle and Wheeler Halls)

The Blue Carpet event celebrated newly admitted transfer students as VIP guests. Students received a swag bag (one per student), took photos on the blue carpet, and had the opportunity to accept their offer of admission. Students checked in through their portal and showed their confirmation page to staff to receive their swag.
