Join us for our annual admitted student event where the UC Berkeley community welcomes newly admitted students and families.
The day will begin with a central welcome at California Memorial Stadium, followed by opportunities to explore academic departments, campus resources, student life, and the Berkeley community. Registration details will be shared closer to the event date.

Highlights from Cal Day 2025
1. Chancellor’s Welcome

Newly admitted students and their families were invited to an early morning welcome with UC Berkeley Chancellor Rich Lyons and Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Admissions, Olufemi Ogundele. Attendees also heard from the ASUC (student body) president and enjoyed student performances beginning as early as 8:30 a.m. The official program began at 9:00 a.m.

Connecting with staff and resources within the college to which students were admitted was an important first step in beginning their Berkeley journey. Every college participated in Cal Day, offering sessions throughout the day, including:

3. Information Zones

Information Zones offered opportunities to engage with academic departments, research programs, campus resources, support services, and student organizations. Attendees visited the campuswide resource fair to learn more about the wide range of opportunities available at Berkeley. Guidebook was used to locate all Information Zones across campus.
4. Campus Tours

Student campus ambassadors led one-hour walking tours of campus, sharing insights into Berkeley traditions, student life, history, and the overall student experience. Tours departed from the Tour Tent on the north side of South Hall near Doe Library and the Campanile. Tours ran continuously starting at 10:00 a.m., with the final tour departing at 3:00 p.m.
5. Blue Carpet Events at Memorial Glade

The Blue Carpet event celebrated newly admitted students as VIP guests. Students picked up their swag bags (one per student), took photos on the blue carpet, and had the opportunity to accept their offer of admission. Students checked in for Cal Day through their portal and showed their confirmation page to staff to receive their swag.
